Mike wrote an off-topic post a few days ago about Rep. Alan Grayson’s outbursts. At the time, his comments were mostly just silly and unproductive. But the latest news circling Capitol Hill is that Grayson called an aide to Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke a “K Street whore.”
A Grayson spokesperson is now defending his comments, because this aide, Linda Robertson, ‘unfairly attacked’ Grayson for his support of auditing the Federal Reserve. I don’t know how she “unfairly attacked” him, but what Grayson said is inappropriate and sexist. Being a Democrat won’t get you a pass from me on appalling, sexist language. It’s totally not constructive, detracts from real debate, and any solid, legitimate criticism he may have had.
Update: Grayson has offered an apology.

Might there be a difference between calling someone a whore, and calling them a “K Street Whore?” For instance, I might call someone, man or woman, lobbying on the behalf of Citigroup or Goldman Sachs a “wall-street whore.” Not to say it wasn’t inappropriate- and I don’t hold myself to the same standards as our public representatives in congress, but I’d like to know the context.
In other words, was she whoring for K street (which could almsot be gender neutral)? Or was she a whore who happened to be standing on the metaphorical K street corner?
