Feminist Looking Glass

Thanks to Sociological Images for pointing out statistics on the percentage of women in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives by party and by how they relate to the percentages in other countries.  The figures show the obvious — that the percentage of women legislators in the Senate and House is far less than the number of men (about 17%) and that the women are overwhelmingly in the Democratic party (about 22% Democrat vs. 10% Republican in both chambers).  The statistics also show that the U.S. is only 70th in the world in the percentage of women legislators.
