I previously wrote about the Congressional efforts to expand domestic benefits to the same-sex partners of federal employees. About the Senate, I wrote that Committee Chair Joe Lieberman said that he expects his committee to vote on the bill by the end of December.
Yesterday, a positive step was made on the House side. The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee voted 23 to 12 in favor of the the bill. Predictably, the Democrats voted for it and the Republicans voted against it. Democratic committee chair Rep. Edolphus Towns (D-N.Y.) said:
